Your Role:
As a Diagnostic Technician at AutoMed, you’ll be the problem-solver our customers count on. You’ll use your expertise and our advanced diagnostic equipment to accurately identify complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues across all makes and models—especially Honda, Toyota, Ford, GM, Nissan, and Chevrolet.
You’ll work closely with our service advisors and technician team to ensure diagnoses are accurate, repair recommendations are clear, and customers understand exactly what their vehicle needs. This role requires sharp attention to detail, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to quality over speed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics on engines, transmissions, electrical systems, braking systems, HVAC, and more.
  • Utilize specialized diagnostic scanners, software, and equipment (including borescope) to identify root causes.
  • Provide detailed, accurate repair recommendations to service advisors with clear explanations.
  • Collaborate with technicians to ensure effective diagnosis-to-repair handoff.
  • Document all diagnostic procedures, findings, and recommendations in shop management system.
  • Communicate with service advisors and customers to provide status updates and explain technical issues in understandable terms.
  • Stay current on evolving automotive technologies, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques through ongoing training.
  • Maintain high-quality standards while managing diagnostic workflow efficiently.
  • Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Mentor and support less experienced technicians when appropriate.

What We’re Looking For
Required:
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician with strong diagnostic focus.
  • Deep knowledge of automotive systems (engine, transmission, electrical, HVAC, braking, suspension).
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and automotive software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and logical troubleshooting approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, quality work.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Own basic hand tools.

Preferred:
  • ASE certifications (A6, A8, or Master Technician highly valued).
  • Experience with Honda, Toyota, Ford, GM, Nissan, Chevrolet platforms.
  • Familiarity with advanced diagnostic tools (scopes, multimeters, borescopes).
  • Manufacturer-specific training or certifications.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior technicians.
